Scan the room. The spec fills itself in.
A surveyor scans the room on site with a Bosch laser measure, or supplies a 3D model. Upload the file to the IBIOS job and IBIOS reads the geometry — extracting every measurement, rendering the floor plan, and generating a branded spec sheet.
Net wall area drives tiling quantities and floor area drives flooring, so the quote starts from real numbers. Measurements are applied on a propose-then-confirm basis — never silently overwritten.
From a scanned file to a measured plan
IBIOS reads the geometry and renders the room with its measurements — ready for the spec sheet and the quote.
An example: a downstairs WC scanned with a Bosch tool
A surveyor scanned a small downstairs WC on site and exported it as a DXF. On upload, IBIOS read the geometry and produced the full measurement set below — with the door deducted from the net wall area that drives the tiling.
Width
2.02 m
Depth
1.33 m
Height
2.54 m
Floor area
2.68 m²
Perimeter
6.68 m
Gross wall area
16.95 m²
Net wall area
15.22 m²
Volume
6.79 m³
Door
0.84 m × 2.06 m
Net wall area is the gross wall area less the door — 16.95 m² down to 15.22 m² here — so the tiling quantity is calculated from the surface that actually gets tiled.
What IBIOS does with the scan
Three things happen between uploading the file and a quote that starts from real numbers.
Every measurement, read from the geometry
IBIOS extracts room length, width and height, floor area, wall perimeter, gross wall area, net wall area (gross less doors and windows), volume, and door and window sizes — straight from the scanned file rather than from a tape and a notepad.
Floor plan on screen, true 3D in the browser
The floor plan renders on request for any supported file. Supply an OBJ or GLB model and you can view the real 3D geometry in the browser — useful for confirming a tricky layout before the quote goes out.
A branded plan to put in front of the customer
IBIOS generates a branded PDF spec sheet — floor plan, the full measurement set, and a per-wall breakdown — carrying your company branding. It is ready for the customer file or the fitter, not a raw CAD export.
How does 3D room scan import work?
Four steps from a survey scan to a quote built on measured numbers — IBIOS reads the geometry in between.
Scan
The surveyor scans the room on site with a Bosch laser measure (or any tool that exports DXF), or prepares an OBJ or GLB 3D model.
Upload
Upload the file to the IBIOS job. IBIOS reads the geometry and extracts every measurement — no manual re-keying of dimensions.
Review
The floor plan renders on screen and the proposed measurements are shown against the job. You review them and apply — IBIOS never overwrites a hand-entered figure.
Quote
Net wall area drives tiling quantities and floor area drives flooring, so the quote starts from real numbers. Generate the branded PDF spec sheet for the customer.
Who is 3D room scan import for?
Anyone who quotes tiling or flooring from a room measured on site — where the surface area is the number the quote turns on.
Bathroom showrooms
The room spec fills itself in from the survey scan. Tiling and flooring quantities come straight off the net wall area and floor area, so the quote starts from real numbers rather than guesses.
Tile retailers
Net wall area is exactly what you need to quantify tiling. Import the scan and the surface area each wall contributes is already worked out — doors and windows deducted — before the quote begins.
Trade installers and fitters
Scan the room on site with a laser measure that exports DXF, upload it to the job, and hand the branded spec sheet to whoever is fitting. The measurements travel with the job, not on a scrap of paper.
Surveyors running multi-room jobs
One job can hold several rooms, each with its own scan, floor plan, and spec sheet. A bathroom and a downstairs WC sit side by side, each driving its own tiling and flooring quantities.
Technical specifications
Supported inputs
DXF (e.g. Bosch GLM / MeasureOn exports, or any tool that exports DXF). OBJ and GLB 3D models for viewing.
Extracted measurements
Length, width, height, floor area, perimeter, gross wall area, net wall area, volume, and door / window sizes.
On-screen views
Floor plan rendered on request. True 3D model viewing in the browser for OBJ and GLB files.
Output document
Branded IBIOS PDF spec sheet — floor plan, measurements, and a per-wall breakdown.
Job population
Propose-then-confirm. Measurements are reviewed and applied; a hand-entered figure is never silently overwritten.
Quote linkage
Net wall area drives tiling quantities; floor area drives flooring. Multiple rooms supported per job.
Questions about 3D Room Scan Import
Which tools and file formats can I import?
IBIOS reads DXF files exported from a laser measure such as a Bosch GLM or the Bosch MeasureOn app, or from any survey tool that exports DXF. It also accepts OBJ and GLB 3D models, which you can view in true 3D directly in the browser. Upload the file against the relevant IBIOS job and the geometry is read on the spot.
Will importing a scan overwrite measurements I have already typed in?
No. Imported measurements are applied on a propose-then-confirm basis. IBIOS never silently overwrites a figure you have entered by hand. The extracted values are presented for review against the job, and the surveyor applies them deliberately — so a careful manual measurement is never lost to an automated read.
What is the difference between viewing a floor plan and viewing a true 3D model?
Every supported file produces an on-screen floor plan with the room outline and measurements, rendered on request. In addition, when you supply an OBJ or GLB model, IBIOS lets you view the actual 3D geometry in the browser — you can orbit the model rather than only seeing it from above. A DXF gives you the plan and the full measurement set; an OBJ or GLB gives you the plan plus the true 3D view.
What does the branded PDF spec sheet contain?
IBIOS generates a branded PDF spec sheet for the room: the floor plan, the full measurement set (length, width, height, floor area, perimeter, gross and net wall area, volume, and door and window sizes), and a per-wall breakdown. It carries your company branding, so it is ready to put in front of the customer or hand to the fitter.
Can I import a separate scan for each room on a job?
Yes. A job can hold more than one room. You upload a scan for each room — a bathroom and a separate downstairs WC, for example — and each carries its own measurements, floor plan, and spec sheet. The net wall area and floor area for each room feed the tiling and flooring quantities for that room.
Which IBIOS product line includes 3D room scan import?
3D room scan import is part of the IBIOS Quote Studio product line. It is built for bathroom retailers and kitchen retailers and fitters. See also: Photo-to-Quote.
