Offline photo uploads in the IBIOS mobile app

Offline photo uploads save a photo on the phone first and send it when the signal returns, so a photo taken in a cellar or a rural site is not lost. A sent-again photo does not create a duplicate. It is built for quote-line photos and Quick Quote scans. It is coming soon: it has not been released in the app and has not yet been tested on a phone.

Who it is for: Surveyors, fitters and sales staff who take photos on sites with poor or no signal.

Can the IBIOS app upload photos without a signal?

Not in the released app. Offline uploads are coming soon. They are built, and the work has not yet been tested on a phone, so we do not call them live.

The design is simple: save first, send later. A badge shows what is waiting, and the queue is kept if the app is closed.

Will a retry create a duplicate photo or a second quote?

It is designed not to. When the same photo or scan is sent again after a lost reply, the server returns the earlier result instead of making a new one. Job photos do not have this protection yet; we list it as a known gap rather than hide it.

Which photos are covered?

First: quote-line photos, amendment photos and Quick Quote scans. Document scans, receipt scans, signatures and catalogue photos still need a signal and are planned after. See the mobile app for what is live in the app today.

How offline photo uploads will work (coming soon)

  1. Take the photo with no signal

Coming soon: the photo is saved on the phone first and shows a Waiting to upload badge.

  2. Carry on working

The queue is designed to survive the app being closed, so the photo is still waiting when you reopen it.

  3. It is sent when the signal returns

The photo is sent once there is signal. If a reply is lost and it is sent again, the server is built to return the earlier result, not make a duplicate.
